2014 Kitchen & Bath Style Report

Every year The National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) surveys their members of kitchen and bath designers across the United States and Canada. Their responses provide insight into design trends that will take hold in the kitchen and bath market in 2014. While broad trends won’t be evident in every local market, the following are some overall trends for kitchens and baths.

Contemporary Challenges Transitional for Top Kitchen Style

Urban Loft Design

While Transitional styling remains at at the forefront of kitchen design; we expect to see kitchen design trending more contemporary in 2014 with clean simple lines; less clutter and little ornamentation.

 Specialized Storage for Electronics

Home office

Technology has become a major part of our everyday lives. As such, kitchen designers are incorporating docking and/or charging stations in their kitchens, as well as a desk or home office area. Designers are also including areas for flat screen TV’s within their kitchen designs. These trends show no signs of powering down soon.

A Place for Pets

For many of us our pets are considered members of the family…so why not create a space in the kitchen dedicated specifically for them. We are seeing more and more kitchens, laundry rooms etc with features to accommodate cats and dogs, from day beds to feeding stations, litter box cabinets to doggy faucets.
